COMPUTER ETHICS AND SECURITY

DEFINITION:


  • the code of acceptable behaviours users should follow while on the internet
  • short for inteenet etiquette
  • the conduct expected of individuals while online.
  • it includes for all aspects of the internet such as e-mail, chat rooms and newsgroups.



RULES OF NETIQUETTE:


    1. Keep message brief. Use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

     2. Be careful when using sarcasm and humor, as it might be misinterpreted.

     3. Be polite. Avoid offensive languages.

     4. Read before you send the message. Double check the messages before you send it.   

     5. Use meaningful subject lines. Make sure the subjects line reflects the email contents.

     6. Avoid sending or posting flames , which are abusive insulting message.

     7. Do not use all capital letters, which is the equivalent of shouting.

     8. Use emoticons to express emotion.
